4 Ways of Business Transparency to Foster Happiness

Did you know that… business transparency is the number one factor to encourage employee happiness?

If we stop to think about it, it makes all the sense in the world. A happy company is one in which employees trust management and everyone has a common project. And this is impossible if there is opacity with respect to the company’s information, intentions, or results.

If you want to have the happiest company in the world, it’s in your hands to get it! Try these 4 tips to promote happiness and business transparency.

4 Ways to Foster Business Happiness and Transparency

1# Share calendars

Having access to the team’s calendars promotes trust and transparency, but it is also a huge help when it comes to managing the day-to-day running of the company.

We have a common vacation calendar with the days that each person is away or working remotely, to notify the rest of the team. Since we have unlimited vacations, we don’t count the days each person takes, but what we take into account are the objectives.

Of course, an important value of the team is responsibility; it is trusted that each one will manage their vacations responsibly, without harming the rest of the team.

We also share a calendar of events that makes it so that everyone knows where each person is at all times, and we can give a quick response to customers and suppliers.

2# Use centralized management tools

Centralizing all information is another key to business transparency and good management, especially if there are remote workers or workers with flexible schedules.

If we are not careful, the information we need to work may end up in half a dozen different places: email, WhatsApp, Hangouts, Teams… So we decided to unify everything with the Slack tool, which allows you to create communication channels by topics, projects, or work areas. We can open individual or group conversions, create documents, make calls, link to Drive… It even has an artificial intelligence bot!

It’s not that Slack has paid us to advertise it, heh, heh, but it is important to note that professional tools of this style help a lot to current companies that work remotely and need to share information and make it easily accessible to the whole team.

At first, it took a while to get into the habit of opening the application every day by the whole group, but now it is routine and an indispensable tool for everyone.

3# Be honest with the numbers

The company’s accounts are one of those pieces of information that are usually kept under lock and key. Error! To foster happiness and a sense of team, employees need to know what’s going on.

Have quarterly meetings to talk about numbers. Share profits, customers, accumulated annual turnover, forecasts… so that we can all know what state the company is in and lend a hand if a bump is coming. And if there are benefits, the bonus is for everyone, since each of the members has done their part to make the results possible.

4# Have an open discussion forum

Day-to-day meetings should be as concrete and focused as possible, but sometimes you have to talk about those issues that are left in the inkwell. That’s why the happiest companies organize regular open forums, in which all employees can participate.

I hope these ideas have helped you, and you understand that business transparency should not take any effort. Sometimes transparency is scary, but it actually helps things go better in the long run, and the company is happier.
