How can affiliate marketers use inbound marketing?

Inbound Marketing is one of the most effective strategies for increasing a product’s popularity, and it does so without creating much noise.

Even people who rely on marketing to make a living are probably a little irritated by how many ads are seen in the world these days.

This Type of Marketing is a way to reach consumers without bothering them and make them acquire a negative perspective of your product, because although it is very effective, it is not as direct and much less invasive.

1) An attractive tone

Try to take the perspective – for a moment – of someone you’re promoting your affiliate program to. This person is bombarded with so many ads that they probably feel exhausted at the end of the day.

The last thing you want to do, without a doubt, is listen to one more advertisement for a product that probably doesn’t even interest you. Fortunately, inbound marketing avoids one of the great problems of conventional advertising: spending money to speak to disinterested ears.

By targeting people who are genuinely interested in the product being advertised, inbound marketing avoids becoming a nuisance for the consumer.

You can say the same thing as an ad, but in a different way that is more interesting to your audience, and almost always this is by adding valuable content.

For example, instead of doing a direct advertisement about your affiliate program, which is a nutrition course for parents, you can partner with a blogger who has a website aimed at moms and create an article about the importance of food in children’s mental health. In that article, you can mention your product as a recommendation during the text, including the link to your website.

2) They’re already interested

If you turn on the TV at night, you’ll see a lot of car ads.

If you already own a car, you’re probably not interested in buying another one, so you change the channel every time one of these annoying ads appears. Bottom line: The 30 seconds of airtime the advertiser paid to tell you about their new car was an expense, rather than an investment.

Inbound marketing is aimed at people who are already interested, and the truth is that this is not a new idea, as the ads were very popular in newspapers and provided a way for marketers to reach audiences by providing them with useful information about a product they were interested in. Inbound marketing is based on this simple and effective concept.

With inbound marketing, you’re providing more information about a product that your potential customers are already interested in. If you’ve read a lot of studies on marketing, you know that people need to be shown something more than once.

In fact, some studies claim that the same item has to be displayed up to 10 times before the consumer buys it, even if the consumer is already very interested in the product. Inbound marketing helps you show the product to the consumer!

3) A useful form of advertising

Inbound marketing actually gives the customer an excuse to learn more about a product they’re interested in. On the other hand, the Outbound Marketing offers only one ad, so it usually doesn’t generate the same levels of interest as inbound.

Inbound can be a blog that gives people good information about a product, a website that has articles that are useful to people who already own the product, and many other types of materials.

All of these materials have in common the fact that they actually offer something of value to the consumer. These aren’t marketing materials that simply tell people how amazing the product is and why they should buy it.

In most cases, inbound is more creative, more useful, and more engaging than outbound.

4) Attract an audience

One of the ways affiliate marketers can use inbound marketing very effectively is by establishing themselves as experts. The idea is that the site will attract people who are looking for more detailed information about the product they are already interested in buying.

You may want to consider using a blog site or other informational site to attract customers. In fact, blogging sites are useful for affiliate marketers because they can be set up for free, and all you have to do is include a link to the product at the bottom of any post so that customers have a chance to buy.

Make sure to keep your site updated regularly, as search engines pay more attention to sites that are updated regularly. This means that you’ll get a better placement in search engines if you take the time to post frequently.

These posts cannot be random; preferably, they should be published on a set day of the week so that your audience already knows when to expect new material and that it does not come as a surprise.

You can also exchange posts with other bloggers and have special offers on your site to attract customers. Inbound attracts the kind of leads you want. But, outbound marketing, more often than not, ends up making a much smaller impression, especially if it’s overdone.

Inbound marketing can be applied in many ways, as we already mentioned in Content Marketing (infographics, video tutorials, etc.), application of strategies on various social media platforms, the production of podcasts, paying attention to SEO positioning so that it remains optimized, and it can work in our favor by positioning us at the top of the results, among others.
