Tesla Model 3 with mysterious cameras: That’s it all about

Tesla once revolutionized the automotive industry by launching electric cars with a high range and innovative design onto the market. Now, the manufacturer in the USA is probably testing a Model 3, which is equipped with several cameras in unusual places. This indicates the early introduction of a driverless service that Tesla presented in Los Angeles at the beginning of October last year.
As reported by the online platform Teslarati, the unusual vehicle has been sighted in several cities in the northeast of the USA. The camera arrangement is similar to that of the Cybercab, an autonomous taxi developed by Tesla as part of its vision for future transport. Tesla could test the cameras on another vehicle model to extend the technology to a wider range of vehicles.
A driver assistance system with additional safety
Tesla’s autonomous driver assistance system should offer many advantages and be safer than human drivers. To increase reliability, Tesla relies, for example, on LiDAR technology, which precisely measures the distance to objects using laser beams. Although the assistance system is to be among the most advanced on the market, there is still a lot of development work to be done.
Manufacturers such as Waymo or Cruise pursue similar goals to Tesla and, according to the Tagesschau in 2023, were able to allow “Robotaxis” for normal road traffic in San Francisco. Despite the progress in development, these services are not yet widely available in Germany and are not yet available at all.
However, the tests of the camera system on public roads show that Tesla could also introduce its concept to selected regions in the next few years. The manufacturer is currently not only under pressure from the competition in e-cars. Further reports from the field of electromobility are reading at this point.
