DJI Neo Drone Update New Features: Vertical Video and Faster Tracking for Social Media Creators

DJI expands its economical Neo drone by adding the facility of vertical video, and refined tracking speed. These updates are also intended to simplify the usage of social media for creators by enabling the capturing of fast-moving and mobile-based content. For a drone that costs $199, Neo now comes with features that were only available on a higher-end model providing value for money to content creators.

New Vertical Video Mode for Social Media:

One of the main upgrades is the addition of vertical video, which allows creators to shoot directly in 9:16 format. It has this aspect ratio mainly because it is used mostly on social media apps especially Instagram and TikTok which favors vertical video. Before, the Neo could only record on a horizontal axis, it required further cropping, and this eliminated quality in subsequent shots.

While this vertical mode support is only up to 1080p, the video quality provided is good enough for most social media content. The addition of this feature by DJI demonstrates it is keen to keep Neo relevant for content creators whose main priority is speed and easy sharing.

Better Tracking Facility:

In addition to the new vertical video mode, tracking has been improved in the Neo model. This improvement is of high importance for those creators who are focused on recording active action scenes like sports or outside games. Originally, the Neo had a problem with high-speed tracking and now it can track moving targets with a speed up to 20 miles per hour.

This update is especially helpful for creators who require precise tracking for quickly evolving topics. The tracking speed of Neo is now even faster than following with human operated controls even in the drone’s Sport Mode. This improvement greatly enhances the fluidity of the shots and makes the execution of smooth movements significantly less choreographed, giving more control and autonomy over the subject than fixating on the delicate maneuvering of the drone for users who prefer to make the drone follow a particular subject instead.

How to Navigate to The New Features Using Firmware Update?

For the new features in the DJI Fly app to work, users will have to download the latest firmware for the DJI Fly app. This is quite easy although, for Android, you may have to directly download the update within the DJI Fly app as it is not yet on Google Play. Essentially, this firmware update is entirely necessary to use the Neo’s new vertical and tracking features.

Updates are the most effective ways of improving DJI products as they indicate that the updates always incorporate solutions to performance and usability issues. To Neo’s consumers, this firmware update can bring their drone up to speed in terms of functionalities that can be employed in capturing social media content.

Compared to Other DJI Drones:

The Neo is priced at $199 and, with these updates, it will be a superb option for low-cost creating. However, it does not have the same kind of measures as the company’s more expensive drones such as the Air 3S, which has a superior image resolution and is suitable for low-light operations but the Neo is adequate for basic operations. For those who pay attention to the compatibility of the housing with social networks and ease of use, the recent improvements of the Neo make it relevant to the budget segment.

If one is in search of a professional quality video and gain access to the enhanced motor control, the Air 3S may be a better choice but if one is only interested in the ability to post on the social media platform then the Neo has the updated features that are cost-effective solutions to the basic needs.

A Low-Cost Product with  Functions

To get an entry-level drone, the Neo has received worthwhile new features. DJI’s updates enhance the flying cameras with modern drone features, effectively democratizing the tech and providing filmmakers with an efficient way of creating social media content. The enhanced smoothened tracking and vertical video functionalities lay a better proposition of Neo with a plus of additional functionalities that don’t come with low-end devices.
