Copilot, Microsoft’s AI assistant, reaches the Xbox ecosystem

Microsoft Copilot is a virtual artificial intelligence assistant developed by the company founded by Bill Gates. It was released to the public on February 7, 2023, being available for its web search engine, Microsoft Edge, on both Windows 10 operating systems, and Windows 11, and its mobile versions.
This AI, like many others, is able to generate text, translate languages, create different types of creative content, and answer questions in an informative way. In addition, it can help you perform some tasks within Microsoft 365 apps, such as writing a letter or making a spreadsheet.
However, these features are only available to Microsoft 365 subscribers. That is, those users who enjoy all Microsoft Office programs in their desktop version, because the online format, the one that is opened and used from the browser, is the free version that Copilot does not own.
Now, as part of its service ecosystem, Microsoft has decided to take its virtual AI assistant to Xbox, its Gaming brand since 2002. Beyond just being an integration with the Xbox Series X-S consoles, it is a service that is added, at least in a beta version, to the Xbox Game Pass membership, for PC only.
Gaming Copilot for Xbox
Gaming Copilot (test version) is now available on Game Bar for Windows PC and for Xbox Insiders enrolled in the PC preview. He’s an assistant designed to help the player overcome obstacles within video games.
The first test was done on the Xbox mobile app, where you can access Copilot on a second screen without affecting the gaming experience. The help is built directly into the PC gaming environment and can answer questions about a game, account history, achievements, and other games in the library.
How to try Gaming Copilot?
First, you need to use voice mode while playing, then attach the Gaming Copilot widget and use it while playing any PC title. This will allow you to talk to Copilot and get help if you’re in a bottleneck of any delivery or need tips to get out of a particular situation.
Upon receiving a question, Gaming Copilot at Game Bar can use screenshots of the game to give you more precise answers. All this in order to make the gamer’s experience increasingly personalized and improve with the passage of use.
Although Gaming Copilot is already available to test on Windows portable devices, its optimization for the new portable consoles, ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally, is not ready yet. Those budgeted for their launch, not yet confirmed, are expected by mid-October 2025.
