E-car for 7,000 euros: The cheapest BYD has just become even cheaper

The Chinese manufacturer BYD also sells its electric cars in Germany. In this country, the prices of the lowest models currently start at around 30,000 euros. But there is hope that the Seagull will also be offered in Europe and Germany in the autumn under the name Dolphin Surf.

Hope because the BYD Seagull or Dolphin Surf is a real e-car bargain. With a length of 3.78 metres, the small car is shorter than a VW ID.3 and initially cost more than 10,000 euros in China. After several price reductions, the BYD Seagull is now being offered in China at prices starting at 56,800 yuan – that is equivalent to just 6,980 euros!

Even if it is not yet clear at what prices BYD will offer the car in Europe, it will probably be significantly above the Chinese price: there is always sufficient room for manoeuvre to the price envisaged by VW for the ID.1 four hundred.

In the Chinese home market, the Seagull is offered in three equipment levels. The battery capacities vary accordingly from 30.1 kWh to 38.9 kWh; according to the range, the range is to be 305 or 405 kilometres according to the Chinese CLTC standard.

We will also go into more detail about the other technical equipment of the Seagull/Dolphin Surf at this point. BYD is also currently in the headlines due to a spectacularly favorable Tesla Model 3-Alternative and a new fast charging system. You can read further news from the field of electromobility here.
