One UI 8.0: Which Samsung phones should receive Android 16 immediately

Most of Samsung’s smartphones are still waiting for their update to Android 15 and thus One UI 7.0 – there are already reports on One UI 8.0 and Android 16. Because two smartphones are supposed to receive the software above all others, and it is not the phones of the Galaxy S26 series.

According to the fanblog SamMobile, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 are already to be delivered with One UI 8.0. The blog wants to have direct experience with this information from an insider. This would break Samsung through a well-known pattern, also because of a decision by Google.

Foldables above all others: That could be the reason

So far, Samsung has first equipped its flagship models of the Galaxy S series with new Android and One UI versions. One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S25 series, or One UI 6.0 on the Galaxy S23 series. The Foldables each received an intermediate version: One UI 5.1.1 for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Flip 5 and One UI 6.1.1 respectively on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung would deviate from this rule if the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 were already shipped with One UI 8.0.

The reason for this could be that Google itself announced a previous release of Android 16 – namely in 2. quarter 2025. Accordingly, manufacturers such as Samsung, but also Xiaomi, are required to present their adjustments more quickly to avoid major delays. This is also said that benchmarks have already appeared for a Galaxy S25 with Android 16 and One UI 8.0.

An official confirmation from Samsung is pending

Without an official confirmation by Samsung, we should not be sure that One UI 8.0 will be released in the summer of 2025 – because at this time the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 are also expected. Nevertheless, it would be desirable if the manufacturer managed to make up for the roll-out of One UI 7.0 after the delay.

On several Samsung phones, hints on Android 16 or One UI 8.0 have already appeared – most recently on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
